Aleutian/Pribilof Islands Broadband Scoping Study

The Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference (SWAMC) is managing an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to develop a strategy to provide Broadband internet service to communities on the Alaska Peninsula, Aleutian Chain, and Pribilof Islands that presently do not have quality internet service.  SWAMC is working with six partners that committed cost share to the grant: Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Aleutians East Borough, Eastern Aleutian Tribes, The Aleut Corporation, Aleutian Pribilof Islands Community Development Association, and the Aleutian Housing Authority.

The project is broken into two phases: Phase 1 is a scoping study and Phase 2 is a business plan focusing on financing this expensive project for a small population spread widely throughout a vast region.

The Aleutian Broadband Phase 1 Scoping Study is now complete. This Scoping Study was prepared by Meridian Management.
