Economic Recovery & Resiliency Plan

In August 2020, SWAMC was awarded Supplemental CARES Act funding from the Economic Development Administration to help the SWAMC region recover from economic impacts from COVID-19 and become stronger going forward.

One of the three focus areas of the project is to develop a Regional Economic Recovery & Resiliency Plan through a comprehensive outreach method to key stakeholders in Southwest Alaska — municipalities, tribal organizations, commercial fishing organizations, seafood processors, local health providers, school districts, and small businesses. Driven by stakeholder participation, this planning process will examine lessons learned and identify strategies to help the region better withstand and recover from future economic shocks stemming from the pandemic or other industry downturns. This work will be taking place through the end of 2021.
