Build Back Better Alaska Mariculture Cluster

SWAMC partners with key organizations to promote Alaska’s mariculture industry, focusing on shellfish and kelp farming, while connecting regional stakeholders and advocating for growth, economic development, and sustainability in Southwest Alaska’s coastal communities.

The Build Back Better Alaska Mariculture Cluster (BBB AMC) partners with SWAMC, the Southeast Conference (SEC), and other key stakeholders such as the Alaska Mariculture Alliance, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and local mariculture businesses to promote and expand Alaska’s mariculture industry, with a focus on shellfish and kelp farming. SWAMC supports this initiative by connecting regional stakeholders and advocating for the sector’s growth, while Mariculture Director Nick Mangini leads efforts to promote kelp farming through outreach and community engagement. This collaboration aims to drive economic development, job creation, and sustainability in Southwest Alaska’s coastal communities.
